Special Thanks From Lockwood

At the end of June we started our Field Shelter Appeal to raise money towards the cost of buying and installing 6 mobile and static field shelters. All equine animals require field shelters to protect them from harsh weather conditions such as wind, rain and strong sun. This is particularly essential for horses and ponies that have been rescued and to whom being placed in a stable block would constitute a traumatic experience.  Each shelter will cost at least £3000. So far contributions from our Open Day and the enormous generosity of the RSPCA Poole and East Dorset Branch has enabled us to purchase and install one field shelter.

Many thanks go to the RSPCA Poole and East Dorset Branch for purchasing a much-needed “Poo-picker” for Lockwood. Previously the grooms were having to use a hand-shovel to remove what can now be sucked up by a machine, taking much less time and freeing up the grooms to be able to devote more time to looking after the animals here.

Congratulations and a huge thank you to Angela Pennicard for her Sky Dive in aid of the Lockwood Donkey Centre. Angela managed to raise over £1000 by throwing herself out of a plane. A terrific achievement. Well done!

We’d also like to thank the RSPCA Surrey, Epsom and District Branch for their generous donation enabling us to install another computer here at the Lockwood Centre. Currently we only have one computer shared between all the staff here, so gaining another one will certainly make life much easier for us all.
